Founding of Facebook
Facebook is an American online social media and social networking service owned by Meta Platforms.It was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg along with Harvard College classmates and roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskowitz, and Chris Hughes, and was named after the Facebook catalogue that is often given to college students in the United States. Membership was initially limited to Harvard students, gradually expanded to other North American universities, and since 2006 has been open to anyone over the age of 13.
Facebook's current usage of users
As of 2020, Facebook claims to have 2.8 billion active users per month and ranks fourth in global Internet usage. It was the most downloaded mobile application in the 2010s.

Facebook can be accessed from devices with an internet connection, such as PCs, tablets and smartphones. After registering, users can create a profile that displays information about themselves. They can post text, photos and multimedia, which can be shared with any other user who agrees to be their ‘friend’ or made public through different privacy settings. Users can also communicate directly with each other through Facebook Messenger, join common interest groups and receive notifications about their Facebook friends' activities and the pages they follow.
