Ahrefs' History

Dmitry Gerasimenko, founder and CEO of Ahrefs, created his first document search engine at the age of 15. His interest in search engines never waned and in 2007 he revisited his work on document and file search engines. This led to the creation of our backlink index in 2010, which in turn became the data source for the first version of Ahrefs' Site Explorer. Upon launch, Site Explorer broke the backlink analysis stagnation and opened up a new level of competition among SEO tool providers. It quickly became one of the best backlink analysis tools in the world.
